Who We Are
The CheckPoint Online Tutorial Services, powered by ThePhoenixxApp, is a Christ-centered review community for aspiring Medical Technologists. We guide students preparing for the Medical Technology Licensure Examination (MTLE) and also support Filipinos reviewing for international exams such as ASCPi, AIMS, CSMLS, and NZMLS.
But more than a review program, The CheckPoint Online is a ministry. Here, academic preparation is combined with prayer, encouragement, and a safe space where students can walk with the Lord in their journey.

Our Story
From Student to Teacher
After passing the Medical Technology Licensure Exam and placing second, Doc Krizza-Almond began teaching in a review center. What started as one opportunity soon grew into many, as she was invited by other review centers to travel and conduct review classes across the country.
The Beginning of The CheckPoint Tutorials
While in medical school, one of her former students from CEU — Sir Axel — asked if she could tutor him. That simple request became the beginning of The CheckPoint Tutorials, her own face-to-face tutorial program.
Growth Beyond the Classroom
As the years went by, more students from different places sought help. Even before the pandemic, online sessions such as MTLE Final Coaching and ASCPi reviews were already being conducted through Google Meet and Zoom.
God’s Provision for the Online Platform
Then, during the pandemic, God opened an unexpected door. A group of app developers reached out and offered to build what would later become ThePhoenixxApp.

From One Session to a Community
From a single tutorial session to a growing online community, The CheckPoint Online continues today — not only as a review program, but as a ministry where academics and faith walk hand in hand.

By God’s call, we exist to be an instrument where students can encounter the Lord, deepen their faith, and learn that in every step of the review journey, prayer is not the last resort but the first response.
Our review is also our ministry. Every lecture, every quiz, and every note is prepared with the prayerful desire that students will not only pass their exams, but also come to know Christ and serve their patients with Christ-like compassion.

Meet Our Founder: Doc Krizza-Almond
Doc Krizza-Almond is the Program Director and “Mother Cell” of The CheckPoint Online.
She earned her BS in Medical Technology at Centro Escolar University–Manila, where she was an active student leader. By God’s grace and mercy, she placed 2nd in the March 2010 MedTech Licensure Examination.
That same year, she began teaching at a review center, which opened doors for her to be invited across the Philippines to lecture in different review centers and universities. She also served as a guest and inspirational speaker at numerous student events.
In time, she entered the College of Medicine at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC). Even as a medical student, she continued teaching, and during her second year one of her former students, Sir Axel, asked if she could tutor him. That one request became the seed of The CheckPoint Tutorials, which eventually grew to serve multiple batches in Manila and Davao.
She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2016 and took the Physician Licensure Exam in 2018. Instead of continuing into residency, she discerned God’s leading to focus on teaching and ministry through The CheckPoint Online.
Today, Doc Krizza-Almond is joyfully married to her medtech-doctor husband, Doc Mark, and treasures her first ministry — being a mother to their two children, ILY & Isay. In all these, she continues to seek God’s guidance as she serves both her family and her students.

Senior Consultant & Operations
Assists students from enrollment to their daily concerns, helping facilitate Zoom sessions and addressing account needs on ThePhoenixxApp. He supports the team with steady guidance and dependable service so students feel supported in every step of their review journey.
Ma’am Pearl
Student Care & Support
Encourages students through prayer and reminders, especially before exams. She also helps manage scores and student concerns with compassion and care.
